ATLANTA (January 5, 2012) – With the new year, Womenetics celebrates the addition of a new senior editor, Janece Shaffer, to its editorial team. An award-winning playwright with more than 20 years of communications experience, Shaffer will directly impact content and strategic direction on Womenetics’ website with her unique voice and innovative leadership.
“I’ve always been interested in telling stories about women – the ones who are fearless, thoughtful, and intentional in all that they do,” says Shaffer. “I’ve had the opportunity to share inspiring stories with both small and large audiences through my plays and I’m excited for this new opportunity with Womenetics to spearhead and share these kinds of stories on a global scale.”
Shaffer is a critically acclaimed, professionally produced playwright who has spent the last decade creating powerful, honest and often humorous works about women – women as professionals, as mothers, as wives and as friends. Some of her well-known plays include “Broke,” “Managing Maxine,” “Bluish” and “Brownie Points,” winner of the 2010 Gene Gabriel Moore Best New Play Award.
Additionally, Shaffer spent the last nine years as national director of communications with the NAMES Project Foundation, the international caretaker of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, where she was responsible for developing communication, fundraising and marketing strategies to advance the work of the Nobel Prize-nominated memorial.
“As Womenetics seeks to connect and inspire women to achieve success in their professional and personal lives, Shaffer’s talents and abilities will enable Womenetics to more effectively engage readers to participate in the conversation surrounding today’s women,” says Elisabeth Marchant, CEO and President. “We are excited about incorporating the perceptive and creative viewpoint about women that Janece Shaffer will bring to our online content.”
